Attorney Ryann Brown

I am Attorney Ryann Brown, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of The Numbers Law Firm, PLLC. Originally from Bronx, N.Y., my curiosity and eagerness to explore outside of my comfort zone guided me to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. There, is where I received my B.S. in Criminal Justice. My undergraduate experience serves as the catalyst for a shift in my mindset towards the importance of entrepreneurship. Later, I would go on to receive a full scholarship to Texas Southern University-Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where I developed the legal skills and knowledge necessary to aid clients in navigating the legal world. While completing my Juris Doctorate, I served as an editor on Thurgood Marshall Law Review and participated in the Family Law Legal Clinic as a student attorney, assisting low-income clients with legal representation in family court. In 2019, I graduated summa cum laude and became licensed to practice law in Houston upon successful completion of the Texas bar exam.

Motivated by my passion for entrepreneurship and my belief in the need for more business ownership within my community, I knew my long-term goal was to open my own law firm. Keeping my goal in mind, I pursued my Master’s in Taxation from The University of Florida Fredrick G. Levin College of Law in the Fall of 2019.  My interest in tax law initially ignited during my studies at Thurgood Marshall. While taking tax law courses I quickly realized the benefit of understanding how tax intercedes with and directly influences every area of life. At the same time, I understood how challenging tax laws can be for people to understand. Often laws are viewed as being more advantageous towards certain groups of people over others. Truthfully, the tax code is a resource that can benefit everyone. Rather than run from the challenge I chose to embrace it. Now as a practicing attorney, I have a specialized and unique skill set that will benefit my clients in their business endeavors.

Before co-founding The Numbers Law Firm, I worked as a Tax Associate for public accounting firms. Through these work experiences, I gained substantial technical tax knowledge and learned how to apply tax concepts to various business industries both domestically and internationally. I look forward to combining my educational and work experiences to help Houston entrepreneurs and small business owners protect their businesses, brands, and ideas while educating the community on the benefits of tax planning.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling to visit family and friends, practicing yoga, and indulging in various cultural cuisines.
